Greetings to all who read these words!
The Great War is once again under way - safe passage to all who travel to the Debatable Lands. We would like to invite those who
cannot attend Pennsic this year to our Pennsic Pity Party to be held this coming weekend, August 2nd & 3rd at Baronage Farm in Delaware. If you miss the camaraderie of spending an evening around a Pennsic campfire, or the parties and food, we will accommodate this
weekend. On Saturday, we will have a Feast & Fire - bring a dish for our pot luck dinner and then spend the night around the campfire. Our site is wet, but we ask that all who drink plan to spend the night. We have ample space for camping so bring your tent.
We will open our gates at 1 pm Saturday. Come and enjoy the day with us. Frat & Rec practice is on the agenda. We start our feast at 5 pm and the fire pit is lit at dusk. Come and share the glorious tales of your past Pennsic experiences with others who bemoan the fact that they cannot attend the Great War.

OFFICIAL EVENT
Greetings, all!
This is just a reminder that the Summer Althyng is still on for Saturday, August 23rd, at the Bear Library in Delaware from 12-4:45. Though 4:45 is the latest the meeting will run, hopefully we'll be able to wrap things up sometime before then.
Remember that an Althyng calls for every current member of Markland to vote, so arrive in force! If your membership is not current, time to renew! The membership form is available on the web page under Markland Corporate, and if none of your information has changed, you can send payment directly to the Bailiff. If you will be unable to attend, please consider sending a proxy with another member, which is also available under Markland Corportae. It doesn't matter if the person carrying your proxy is a member of your household or not. Also remember that 5 proxies is the maximum number allowed by any one member (that’s 6 votes total, including his/her own).
Included in the agenda is the second round of voting on the proposed changes to the Frat Rules, posted for your perusal under Library and Rules. These weren’t voted on at the Spring Council Meeting as rule changes passed at a Council Meeting (in this case, the Special Council Meeting) require voting at a subsequent Althyng to ensure fair member input. Though traditionally discussion has been limited to the first round of voting only, the amount of discussion that these particular changes has inspired makes it appropriate to give members one last shot at the soapbox. Keep in mind, however, that redundant arguments or unproductive complaining will lose you the floor. This part of the agenda will be about succinct discussion, decisive resolution, and moving on.
Lastly, don’t forget that the Summer Althyng also means that elected positions are once again open to the Fyrd’s vote! Our democratic election process makes our organization distinct, and is a right to be exercised. So, exercise it! Cast your vote. Or send your proxy. Either way, don’t forget to update your membership!
