Hosted by Companions of The Cross. We will meet before 9am at St Rose Church 603 7th Avenue Belmar, N.J. 07719. It is at the end of the parade route, and free parking is available all the way down 7th Ave & around Lake Silver (if needed).
First we decorate the float, go get breakfast in a nearby Cafe, then transport our group to the start of the parade ON the float.
The staging area for Marchers is on the North side of Lake Como. Our marching group is #706 Companions of The Cross/Markland Medieval Mercenaries. The Staging area for the Floats is on the South side of Lake Como. Our float is #714 Companions of The Cross/Markland Medieval Mercenaries.
It seems odd to separate them, but the parade directors are efficient. They will tell you where to stand and will unite our units to go down the parade route together.
We would like to have two non-walkers as guards for Queen Joan, in Armor, and more to lay in combat when the parade pauses. House Rhineguard will bring a Markland Banner.
ALL children... Whether in garb or not (garb is preferred) are more than welcome to ride the float & wave to the crowds... Joan has little Markland flags for them that they can keep!
Anyone who misses meeting us at St Rose can go directly to the staging area.
The parade steps off at 12:30 sharp, no matter what the weather is... Just ask us about the SNOW! We are further back in the marching order, so that gives Marklanders about an hour more to get to us.
Last year the weather was lovely & we had a grand time.
Belmar really IS a party town on Parade Day! There is plenty of fun to be had afterwards, up and down Main Street.
